Dogs only

Frontline tablets for dogs: FRONTPRO

FRONTPRO is a chewable flea and tick tablet for dogs, made by Boehringer Ingelheim, the maker of Frontline. It is licensed to treat flea and tick infestations in dogs, with flea killing activity for 5 weeks and tick killing activity for one month.

Weight bands

2kg to 50kg, four strengths

Choose the tablet by your dog’s weight. The four strengths cover 2kg to 4kg, over 4kg to 10kg, over 10kg to 25kg and over 25kg to 50kg.

Fleas and ticks must feed before they are killed, so the spread of tick-borne disease cannot be ruled out. There is no data for puppies under 8 weeks old or dogs under 2kg. Ask your vet first. Full details are in the NOAH Compendium datasheet.

Frontline for cats

Products listed for cats

Dogs only: Frontline Tri-Act and FRONTPRO.

Browse all cat medicines. Frontline Spot On, Frontline Plus and Frontline Combo are listed for cats. Frontline Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, which stops flea eggs and larvae developing.

Never use Frontline Tri-Act on cats. It contains fipronil and permethrin and is licensed for dogs only. See the NOAH Compendium datasheet.

Choose the pack for your cat’s weight. Kitten age and weight limits differ by product. Check the product leaflet before use.

Frontline worming

Frontline Spot On, Frontline Plus and Frontline Tri-Act are flea and tick products. They are not worming products. Frontline Wormer is a separate oral tablet. See Frontline Wormer for dogs, our flea, tick and wormer range and our guide on how often a dog needs worming.

The dog tablet is listed for roundworms, tapeworms, whipworms and hookworms. The cat tablet is listed for roundworms and tapeworms. Use it as the product leaflet directs.

Frontline HomeGard for the home

Frontline HomeGard is a household flea spray for carpets, rugs, upholstery and pet sleeping areas. It is a biocide, not a veterinary medicine, and must not be applied to animals. Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.

Safety

Frontline safety and responsible use

Use every Frontline product exactly as the product leaflet directs.

Rabbits

Do not use Frontline spot-ons or the pet spray on rabbits.

Cats

Never use Frontline Tri-Act on cats.

Sick animals

Do not use any Frontline product on a sick or convalescing animal without veterinary advice.

Full product information is in the NOAH Compendium datasheet for each product. Ask your vet or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Parasite control

Fleas, ticks and worms: why you often need to treat for both

Fleas can carry tapeworm larvae. Dogs and cats become infected with the tapeworm Dipylidium caninum when they swallow an infected flea or chewing louse. ESCCAP guidance says tapeworm control includes controlling fleas and lice. More in our fleas and ticks advice, including how long flea treatment takes to work, how to check your dog for fleas and how to check your dog for ticks.

Frontline flea and tick products do not treat worms, and Frontline Wormer does not treat fleas. Ask your vet or pharmacist which combination suits your pet. Other flea and worm brands are on our Stronghold and NexGard pages.
