What Is Vetmedin?

Vetmedin (pimobendan) is a prescription-only medicine used to help manage heart disease in dogs. It's prescribed by vets to support heart function and help improve day-to-day quality of life.

What Conditions Does Vetmedin Treat?

Vetmedin is commonly prescribed for dogs with heart conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and mitral valve disease. Your vet will confirm whether Vetmedin is suitable based on your dog's individual diagnosis.

How Does Vetmedin Work?

Vetmedin is known as an inodilator. It helps the heart contract more effectively while also easing blood flow, which together can reduce the strain on a struggling heart.

How is Vetmedin administered?

At Ashcroft 4 Pets, we currently dispense Vetmedin as chewable tablets (1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg, and 10mg) and 5mg hard capsules. Your vet will confirm the form and strength suited to your dog.

Can Vetmedin be used with other medications?

Vetmedin is often prescribed alongside other heart medications. Always tell your vet about everything else your dog is taking so they can check for interactions.

Is Vetmedin Safe?
